Distractions

I don't know how we all got so distracted.
Couldn't sit and watch the first drop fall from the sky
And why we describe boredom as like watching paint dry.
I don't know when we lost our attention and
our thoughts became so numb.
We'd rather watch screens do noubt
than with our minds have endless fun.
There can be little more exciting than waiting for a train &
Watching from the sky fall, floods of endless rain.
Yet down our heads stare, instead, at tiny little boxes
That hold more information than we can possibly retain.
There's little more enchanting than the tears that soak us through
Gravity enticing the sky right down to you
There'e little more surrounding than living in the cloud
Yet our mood is described as grey unless the sky is blue.
So screen, screen go away and halt your muddled chatter
Rain, rain, here to stay in clumps of puddle matter
Lift up your head, throw down your hood
Roll around in the rain soaked mud
Peer at the sky, let your eyes get wet
Experience your being completely reset
Let your phone drip in the puddle
and evaporate into the air
And then, from there you will have
somewhere more interesting to stare.

Sky

Somewhere else
the sky is thick with endless cloud
and from it pours treacherous rain
diverted by thunderous winds.

This tiny bit of sky though, is pink and still.

Tony

Tony the ant hid on a warthog
So that he could skive all day
He didn't like his work
He didn't like his pay
But when a good friend found him
There was nothing he could do
But get to work on shoveling
Smelly warthog poo

Homeland

Some call it Britain, some the UK
It's depressingly capitalised the surveys say
... sure, it's not perfect
And sure, it is cold
It may no longer be powerful or bold
But this tiny island has an honest love
Whether or not the sun shines above
So... For all the tea in all of China
Or all the weather of Spain
I wouldn't change a single mountain range
Or stop a drop of British rain
With all the tea in all of China
Or all of europe's top designer
With every spotless American diner
Or any Arabian luxury liner
This cosy home, couldn't be finer
The beauty's unstoppable once you find her

Friend

I cannot comfort
There are no words to speak
I should be with you

Fuzzy Recollections

Slow walk
Almost to stop
Hand in front
Flame hot
Reminds me of dreams
Of memories

One long candle
That burns the rest
The presence of the scent
Reminds me of past
Of tea in the mountains
Huddled round a fire
And too short moments

Late Spring

As she looks out, she only sees green
But over the hill there is more to be seen
The bump gets smaller, the baby comes out
She sees new horizons and consciousness sprout
New flowers by the castle all have re-grown
These eyes do perceive them with colour of their own
Fresh air fills her lungs as she breaths in the sky
Her heart plays the drums and the baby does cry

Pizzeria

5 A girl caught my eye
7 Onion and pineapple pie
7 She asked me to make it dry
2 OK
6 As I tried to dry it
9 The onions, they made me cry a bit
6 But the pie was divine
4 That's the last line

Current

Lips of drifting tidal
Ripple roll away
Glisten

Touching body braking
Slowly surge and swell
Splashes, remind us

We are not the droplets
We are all the sea

Gammy Jamming

29/03/2012

Come and see the folk band leg

With bodhran’s baton
Bellowing beats
Indenting a stretching skin
And the tight tuning tortures
Of a tendon violin
Collecting chords
Clamp residing pressure
Of the oboe deep within

Accordion aches
Pumping and swelling
Menacing mechanics make
The collecting clattering
Clashing keys
And singers
Creating harmonies

And all this with stage side seats
Lodged inside a bulging knee
